Some wedding days feel like they capture every bit of what makes a place special — Maraia + Kyle’s wedding at Deerwoode Reserve in Brevard, NC was one of those. Against the backdrop of colorful fall foliage, towering trees, and misty mountain views, they celebrated with 60 of their closest loved ones in a day that perfectly blended adventure, beauty, and heartfelt moments.

First Look Adventure at Caesar’s Head Overlook

Before their guests arrived, Maraia and Kyle snuck away to Caesar’s Head Overlook, a spot near and dear to them, for their first look. The drive up the mountain built the anticipation, and as they shared that quiet moment—overlooking layers of fall color stretching into the distance—you could feel the joy radiating from both of them.

We love when couples carve out space in their day for connection like this. After their first look and a few private minutes to soak it all in, they shared personal vows surrounded by nothing but fresh air and the rustle of leaves.

A Lakeside Ceremony at Deerwoode Reserve

Back at Deerwoode Reserve, the ceremony took place at the venue’s on-site lake, a serene space that lent calm and gravity to the couple’s vows. Guests gathered beside the still water as Maraia walked down the aisle, with both of her parents at her side. The ceremony was filled with laughter, poignant reflection and heartfelt vows.

Family, Joy, and Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, family photos were captured beneath the soft light filtering through the trees. Special attention was paid to heirlooms like Maraia’s necklace—an elegant nod to her grandmother—as well as joyful moments with their families.

As cocktail hour began, Maraia and Kyle snuck away once more for a few quick portraits across the Reserve’s sprawling property and then joined their friends and family for laughter and drinks on the heated patio.

An Intimate Reception at Mayes Event Center

The Mayes Event Center at Deerwoode provided a cozy yet elevated setting for the evening’s celebration. Planter box centerpieces, a beautifully styled dessert table with pastries and a small cake, and flickering candlelight set the tone for an evening full of warmth and joy.

Dinner was served family-style, followed by toasts that drew both laughter and a few happy tears. As the cake was cut and the first dances began, Maraia and Kyle’s loved ones filled the space with love and energy that carried well into the night.

A favorite moment: Maraia’s dad led a special dance with family members—one of those little unscripted things that make a wedding day uniquely personal.
