Mary + Tom’s Elegant Summer Wedding at The Rafters at St. Mark’s | Huntersville & Charlotte Wedding Photography
On a golden August afternoon, Mary and Tom celebrated their love in a warm, heartfelt ceremony at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, followed by a joyful reception at The Rafters, nestled on the same charming property in Huntersville, NC. With around 100 of their closest family and friends, their wedding day was intimate, intentional, and full of meaning—just the way they wanted it.
A Quiet First Look and Vows, Just for Two
The day began in the quiet corners of St. Mark’s. Caroline joined Mary and her bridesmaids in the bride’s room as excitement buzzed gently through the air. Across the property, the second photographer captured the venue as sunlight streamed in through the trees. Just after Mary stepped into her dress and laced up her heels, she met Tom beneath the oaks behind the church for an emotional first look. They took a few private minutes alone, away from the crowd and the cameras, to soak in the moment and exchange personal vows. It was a slow, quiet start to a deeply meaningful day.
Portraits, Family Moments, and Quiet Joy
After the first look, we flowed into portraits with immediate family and the wedding party—an intimate group including their children, spouses, and siblings. The joy was palpable, as we always love capturing families together. With portraits wrapped and emotions high, the couple took a breath to savor the calm before the ceremony.
A Ceremony Steeped in Meaning
Set against the historic beauty of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the ceremony was officiated by a trio of beloved clergy members. The couple said “I do” surrounded by the people who know them best—a moment filled with laughter, a few happy tears, and the kind of vows that linger in the air long after they’re spoken.
Dinner, Toasts & Sunset Magic
The reception kicked off with a warm welcome and a grand entrance before dinner was served. As glasses clinked and stories were shared, the couple cut their cake and received heartfelt toasts from loved ones. Then came their first dance and the opening of the dance floor—a joyful swirl of movement, laughter, and connection.
Before the evening wrapped, we stole the couple away for a few last golden hour portraits. The day ended with one last private moment together before the dance party resumed under the glow of twilight.
