Two days after Heather and Shane’s intimate Asheville wedding we met up at sunrise for some epic mountaintop wedding portraits. Most wedding days, even in the Asheville area, don’t allow enough time to get up into the mountains for mountaintop wedding portraits, so doing an after wedding session is a great way to integrate these gorgeous landscapes into your wedding photos, without driving an extra two hours on the wedding day itself! I also love getting to do after-wedding sessions with my couples, as all the stress of the day has melted away and left nothing but giddiness and joy! AND you don’t have to stress about getting your dress dirty for the big day 😉
Heather and Shane brought champagne and doughnuts to enjoy as the sun rose, but sadly the sun never showed itself. At first we were disappointed, and Heather a little apprehensive that the fog would keep the images from turning out, but after a few minutes of shooting in the fog and the mist we were all hooked. It created such a quiet, dramatic atmosphere and it felt like we were the only people in the world.
{As we were coming back down the mountain, I had Shane twirl Heather in a tunnel of rhododendrons. Her skirt flared out perfectly and the mist swirled around them and I gasped “This is SO Jane Austen”. Heather squealed happily but Shane paused, confused, and said “Isn’t that the chimpanzee lady?” We all had a good laugh declaring “OMG this is SO Jane Goodall” for the rest of the shoot whenever something great happened. I love love love working with clients I can laugh with!}
If you’re wondering how to incorporate epic mountaintop wedding portraits into your wedding day, but don’t have the time or the mountains, check out this amazing after-wedding session and consider doing one of your own!
