Hiking Into Sunrise at The Chimneys
There’s something about watching the sun rise from a mountaintop that sets the tone for a truly intentional elopement day. Jackie and Richard chose the wild beauty of Western North Carolina for their day—opting for a just-the-two-of-them adventure that wove together hiking, morning light, rivers and a cliff-jump to remember.
We met up with them well before dawn at the Table Rock parking area. Armed with headlamps, breakfast pastries, and layers, they hiked to The Chimneys in Linville Gorge—quiet, steady, excited. As golden light crept across the ridgelines, Jackie and Richard slipped into wedding attire and shared an emotional first look, and exchanged handwritten vows.
Waterfall Dips and Forest Picnics
After soaking in sunrise views and fueling up with coffee and fruit, we headed back down the trail, stopping at rocky outcrops for a few more portraits. Our next stop? The Linville River. Tucked into the forest, the spot on the river felt like their own private sanctuary. They changed back into wedding clothes, popped champagne, shared a charcuterie picnic. Then, to align the physical with emotional, they “took the plunge” off a rock and jumped into the mountain river in all full wedding attire. It was joyful, silly, and perfectly them.
