Madison + Kyle's Intimate Adventure Wedding in Asheville, NC
Madison and Kyle met in college, and were both commissioned in the army after graduating. Kyle proposed on the beach as the sun set over Tybee Island and their pizza picnic, and two weeks later, he deployed. As they began the adventure of long distance wedding planning, Madison and Kyle initially thought they’d wait a while and get married the following year, giving themselves and their family members more time for planning. But as they began to think more about what their day could look like, they quickly decided a small elopement in the mountains was exactly what they wanted!
When we started dreaming up ideas and helping their day take shape, Madison said, “We’ve started leaning more towards just eloping this summer and making it something magical. We both love the outdoors and want to get married outside in an area where the scenery is all you need for decorations.” Madison and Kyle knew they wanted an epic mountain backdrop, a bit of a hike as the sun was coming up, and a breakfast picnic with family to celebrate – and that’s exactly what they got!
We met just over an hour before sunrise and hiked up in the dark, wedding gear in tow and headlamps lighting the way. Once we reached the summit, Madison slipped into her STUNNING dress on the cliffs overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, and they had their first look, surrounded by the gorgeous mountain backdrop they’d been dreaming of for months! Madison and Kyle had the entire mountaintop to themselves to share private vows, watch the sunrise, slowly painting the sky pink & gold above the blue ridges, and spend time exploring together before heading back down. By the end of their hike, we were all a bit sweaty, the bottom of Madison’s dress was covered in mud, and we couldn’t wait to join their families to celebrate and officially tie the knot!
After a short drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, we met up with Madison and Kyle’s family members for a small, secluded ceremony. Madison and Kyle shared handwritten vows, exchanged rings, and popped some celebratory champagne right after the ceremony!
Following the ceremony, everyone headed to the most GORGEOUS and delicious looking brunch picnic setup, styled by Picnic Popup AVL and catered by Urban Graze. Madison and Kyle could not have been more in love with how their day turned out, and with the only bumps in the road being me falling in the dark and one of my cameras breaking my fall, and then smashing my thumb in my car door pre-ceremony (thank goodness for backup gear and the will to push through to give our couples the best experience possible, am I right?! :P), it turned out to be the most perfect late summer morning elopement!
